This policy explains what UFO Central collects, why, and what you can do about it. UFO Central (theufocentral.com) is operated by Creative Quality Marketing LLC ("we," "us," "our"). Questions go to cesar@creativequalitymarketing.com.
The short version: we collect the email you give us, the account details you create, what you send through the sighting form, and basic usage data. Payments run through Stripe, so we never see or store your full card number. We do not sell your personal information.
Information we collect
- Email address, when you subscribe to the newsletter or join a waitlist.
- Account details (name, email, and authentication credentials) when you create an account. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider; we store your account record in our database.
- Payment information, when you start a membership. Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive and store identifiers such as your Stripe customer and subscription IDs and your membership status, never your full card number or security code.
- Sighting submissions: whatever you choose to include in the form, which may contain your description of an event, a location, a date, optional contact details, and any media you upload.
- Usage and device data: standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) and, where enabled, privacy-respecting analytics that help us understand how the site is used.
- Cookies: we use essential cookies to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
How we use it
- Send the weekly dispatch and any email you asked for.
- Operate your account and your membership.
- Process payments and prevent fraud, through Stripe.
- Review sighting submissions and, where appropriate, follow up or publish editorial coverage.
- Keep the site secure, debug problems, and improve how it works.
- Meet legal obligations.
How we share it
We share personal information only with the service providers that help us run the site, and only as needed to do so:
- Stripe, for payments and billing.
- Neon, for database hosting.
- Resend, for sending email.
- Vercel, for site hosting and infrastructure.
- Sanity, for managing sighting submissions and editorial content.
What we do not do
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of UFO Central and its users.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe from email anytime using the link in any message.
- Manage or cancel a membership from the billing portal linked in your account.
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data by emailing cesar@creativequalitymarketing.com.
- Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK, or California), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data and to object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise them and we will respond as the law requires.
Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as it is needed for the purposes above or as the law requires. Subscriber records are kept until you unsubscribe, plus a reasonable period afterward. Account and membership records are kept for the life of the account and any period we are legally required to retain them.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Where your data is processed
UFO Central is operated from the United States. If you use the site from another country, your information is processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from your own.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site grows. We will revise the date above, and for material changes we will give more prominent notice.
